The pause toggle in the Live Events action bar works like the DevTools network panel's. Click to stop the stream, click again to resume. Past events stay visible and interactive throughout.
What pause does
- New incoming fires are dropped. The buffer doesn't grow.
- The toggle's tooltip shows a running drop count ("Paused · 12 dropped") so you know whether anything happened while you were inspecting.
- Past events remain clickable — open drawers, copy payloads, resize the panel.
What pause doesn't do
- It doesn't stop detection. The Tags, Audit, and dL tabs continue updating.
- It doesn't stop watch notifications. A watched event still fires its notification — the row just isn't added to the visible stream until you resume.
- It doesn't affect Saved Runs. If you save a run while paused, the run captures the full state up to the pause point.
Why drop instead of buffer
A page in heavy SPA mode can fire hundreds of events per minute. Buffering everything during a long pause would defeat the point — you'd resume to a wall of stale data with the row you wanted lost in noise. Dropping keeps the resumed view immediately useful.
workflow
Spot a suspect event → pause → open the drawer to inspect → copy the payload → resume. The stream picks up live without losing your place.
